Those of you who've been reading 's novel will know that, YES, Book I: Awakenings is being published soon, and will be sold at Anime North. This deviation will also be sold as a high quality 11x17" print as well! (And the print version won't be watermarked)

Painting plaid is one of the most trying things I've ever attempted in Painter. ><. And you can't even SEE it that well when it's shrunken down to this size! (More reason for you to buy the print, you'll likely be able to see it there).

Thanks to Raven and Niku for letting me build on your works.. it's been a great honor.

I'm a real fan of your transitions... I've never taken the time to really figure out how to digitally paint or color until now and I really wish I had.

I think you did a beautiful job. This is the same graphic as on the frontpage of the SoA site, isn't it? I was admiring it a couple days ago. :)

What I like about this, specifically, is the flat blacks. (In Rain's hair, for example.) I love flat black, but I'm never certain it works when the other colors are shaded, but here it does.

Skin shading is fab, too. I may look at your gallery as a reference for the shadows/highlights on faces if that's all right.

Actually, I always thought I needed more work on that. My coloring seems flat to me a lot of the time.. :/

*lol* Of course it's alright. Everybody's galleries are arouand for looking at, so if you're trying to learn from others' art, it's all the better. I'm just amazed you're trying to learn from ME. :faint:

Yes, this is the same one as the SoA layout. What happened actually was that Raven had sent me the layout graphic to color in, and then she decided that she wanted the original linework colored as well and gave me a higher resolution version of the lines to color -- and this is what came of it. So I technically had to paint this picture twice. ^^
